Overview
Neem Oil is a traditional Ayurvedic external oil preparation based on Nimba (Azadirachta indica). Ayurveda traditionally uses Nimba for skin disorders, itching, microbial-related conditions and wound care. Classical Ayurvedic literature also describes Nimba Taila and its topical applications.
Traditional Ayurvedic Perspective
In Ayurveda, Nimba is predominantly Tikta (bitter) and Kashaya (astringent) in Rasa, with Laghu and Ruksha Guna and Sheeta Virya. It is traditionally regarded as Kushtaghna and Krimighna, making it particularly relevant to skin and external applications.
