Research Highlights

Amalaki Rasayana in Iron-Deficiency Anaemia

Randomized controlled clinical trial · 25 patients · 45 days

A clinical study evaluated Amalaki Rasayana in patients with iron-deficiency anaemia and compared it with ferrous fumarate plus folic acid.

The study reported significant improvement in several symptoms including pallor, weakness, fatigue, headache, heaviness and reduced appetite. Some hematological parameters also improved. However, the formulation was not as effective as the standard iron-folic acid treatment.

The study used a classical Amalaki Rasayana preparation with honey and ghee and therefore should not be interpreted as direct evidence for this specific tablet formulation.

Amalaki Rasayana and Healthy Ageing Research

Research in an animal model has also investigated Amalaki Rasayana for stress tolerance, oxidative stress and ageing-related changes. The study reported improved stress tolerance and reduced markers of neurodegeneration in treated animals.

This was preclinical research in Drosophila, not human clinical evidence.
