Research Highlights
Holarrhena antidysenterica Extract in Chronic Ulcerative Colitis
Randomized single-blind study · 30 patients · 4 weeks + 4-week follow-up
Preparation and Dose
The study used a methanolic extract of Holarrhena antidysenterica in tablet form at 750 mg twice daily in the monoherbal treatment group.
Finding
The authors reported improvements in gastrointestinal symptoms and stool-related measures in the monoherbal group. (PubMed)
This study evaluated a specific Holarrhena extract, not Vatsakadi Vati itself. The findings therefore provide evidence regarding one ingredient rather than the complete formulation.
